There are a lot of things worth talking about. Some are happening right in front of us, some are happening quietly, and some are things we've simply never stopped to think about.

Koinons was created for those things.

Koinons is an open publication for people who have something to say, something to explain, something to share, or simply something they think is worth putting into words. It isn't built around one particular subject, industry, or type of writer. Technology, business, culture, science, the internet, creativity, personal experiences, ideas — if there's a story behind it, it can have a place here.

Why Koinons?

Publishing has never been easier. Anyone can start a blog, post a thread, upload a video, or share an opinion with the world in a matter of seconds. But with so much being published every day, I think we've also become very good at moving on before we really understand what we're looking at.

Koinons is my attempt to make a small space for something different. Not necessarily more serious, and definitely not always more important, but more curious. A place where someone can take an idea and actually spend some time with it.

You don't have to be a journalist to have a story worth telling.

Who Can Write Here?

Anyone.

You don't need to work in media. You don't need a journalism degree. You don't need thousands of followers, an impressive title, or years of experience writing for a publication.

Maybe you're a developer who built something interesting and want to explain how it works. Maybe you're a student who discovered something while learning. Maybe you've spent years working in an industry and have a perspective that isn't easy to find online. Maybe you want to document a journey, share an experience, explain something you're obsessed with, or make an argument you genuinely believe is worth having.

You can write about it here.

What matters is that you're bringing something of your own. An experience, an idea, knowledge, research, an observation, or a perspective. We're not looking for people who simply want somewhere to repost things that already exist. We want people who have something to contribute.

What Belongs on Koinons?

We're deliberately leaving that question open.

Koinons isn't a technology publication, a business publication, or a culture publication. It can be any of those things, and it can also be something completely different.

A deep dive into a piece of software can sit next to an essay about a city. A story about building a company can sit next to an exploration of an internet community. A personal experience can be just as interesting as an analysis of a major event.

The subject isn't the rule.

Interesting is.

Koinons isn't here to decide what you should care about. It's here to help you discover something you didn't know you would care about.

A Note From the Developer

I'm the person building Koinons behind the scenes.

I'm writing the code, designing the product, thinking about the infrastructure, fixing bugs, and figuring out how all of this is supposed to work. But I don't want Koinons to become a reflection of only what I find interesting.

The platform is mine to build. The publication isn't.

I want the people who write here to shape what Koinons becomes. I want to see someone publish their first article here. I want a developer to explain something they've spent months figuring out. I want someone to tell a story that would probably never make it into a traditional publication. I want readers to stumble across an article and discover a person, an idea, or a subject they wouldn't have found otherwise.

I don't know exactly where Koinons will be a year from now, and I think that's okay.

Maybe it will grow into something much bigger than what I'm imagining today. Maybe some of the things we try won't work. Maybe the people who contribute will take it in directions I never expected.

That's part of the reason I wanted to build it in the first place.

I don't want to build a website that simply publishes articles. I want to build a place where people can put their ideas into the world and find other people who care about them.

This is just the beginning.

If you've got something to say, write it.

If you've learned something, share it.

If you've experienced something worth remembering, tell the story.

We'll see where it goes.

Welcome to Koinons!
